FAQ

1. What makes you different from other advisors?

Many things, but the three most important differences are that we serve as a fiduciary for our clients, we work as a team, and we manage money on a discretionary basis. Financial Professionals operate as either fiduciaries (the minority) or salespeople (the majority). Registered Investment Advisory firms like ours are fiduciaries, whereas brokerage firms and retail banks are salespeople. Fiduciaries have a legal duty to give advice that is solely for the client’s benefit and in their best interest. Fiduciaries must put their own personal interests completely aside, in order to remain loyal to their fiduciary duty to their clients. On the other hand, salespeople are held to a suitability standard, which states that they must have reasonable grounds to believe that an investment is suitable for their client. Salespeople have no obligation to work in their client’s best interest or disclose any conflicts of interest. Given the differences, we strongly believe that the best way to dispense advice is as a fiduciary.

2. How do you work as a team?

Every client has all three partners working on their affairs year around. Each partner has a unique expertise, which ensures that all of our clients’ wealth management needs are taken care of.

3. What is discretionary investment management and why do you manage money this way?

Discretionary investment management allows our clients to hand over the day to day management of their investments to us, and acting as their fiduciary, we monitor their portfolio and make the decisions on their behalf. We believe it’s best to manage investments for our clients in this manner because it allows us to fully employ our expertise, resulting in optimal management of their money.

4. Do you accept clients outside of the Gainesville/Florida area?

Absolutely. Our work is nationwide in scope, as our clients are located in many different states across the country.

5. Do you have a minimum requirement for client wealth?

No, but generally clients with at least $500,000 in investable assets will get the most from our services. However, we are always delighted to counsel clients at all levels of wealth, and will schedule consultations with those who could use the help of a wealth management team.
